Wow I don’t know where to begin telling you about Amanda and Travis ‘s wedding. I mean, how often do you see a wedding take place in a cave? When I first met with Amanda and she told me her wedding was going to be at Ruskin Cave I had to look up images immediately. I didn’t know there was such a thing especially around Nashville.

When Amanda was telling me about her wedding plans and about Travis (who couldn’t make the meeting) I knew I would love being their wedding photographer. Before their wedding Amanda wanted a bridal session instead of an engagement session so I still didn’t get to meet Travis till a month before their wedding when we had dinner together to go over their final schedule.

On their wedding day Amanda and Travis were laid back and fun. I started off taking pictures at Amanda’s parents house. There I took pictures of the wedding dress, rings, shoes, and little details. The detail shots turned out amazing. I wish I had taken a wide shot of the location that I took the detail pictures at. I had to be super creative to not get any power lines, houses, or cars in the dress photo.  I also took photos of Amanda and her lovely bridesmaids getting ready and a few photos of them in their awesome bridal party shirts.

Once everyone was ready we headed over to Ruskin Cave. I rushed ahead of the girls so I can meet Travis and get him ready for the first look. When Amanda arrived we went straight in to the first look outside of the cave. First look photos are some of my favorites to take!

While driving over to Ruskin Cave I noticed a Barn and a large field not too far from the cave. I knew these would be great photo locations for their bride and groom shots. The only problem was we had no idea who owned that property. So it was going to be a risky bride and groom shoot. The were totally up it. First we took a few photos at the barn and then we headed over to the big field. We jumped out of the car and my assistant Jonathan quickly set up our lighting while I took some natural light photos. It took about 5 mins in the field and we jumped back in the car. Overall it was a pretty quick bride and groom shoot. I am sure they are glad because it was pretty hot outside.

Amanda and Travis’s wedding was fun to shoot and I am glad that asked me to be a part of their wedding day at Ruskin Cave. Below are a few photos from their wedding day.
