I met Beth and Bryan a few months ago for their downtown Nashville engagement shoot. They were really fun and laid back even though we walked miles during the engagement session. After their session I knew I would really enjoy shooting their wedding at The Barn at Chavis.

Beth and Bryan’s wedding was at the lovely event venue called The Barn at Chavis. It was my first time shooting there so I came to the rehearsal to scout out the venue and to meet everyone. I love this venue because it has so many great locations for photos even in the middle of the day when the sun is not optimal for photos.

I started taking photos of all the detail shots as soon as I got there at noon. This is also when I met with Jenny and Courtney from Flower Girls Floral Design who did an amazing job with the yellow and blue bridal party flowers. You can check out those in the photos below.

Once both Beth and Bryan were ready we did a first look and started taking formal photos. At this point it was about 3 PM which mean the sun is still pretty bright but there was a patch of trees casting shade and we did the bulk of the bridal party photos there. They turned out amazing. I really love the photos with the bridesmaids and their blue sunglasses.

The weather was perfect for Beth and Bryan’s wedding day. It was sunny with a cool breeze all day. The ceremony started at 5PM in the front lawn of the venue and even though we were in direct sun it felt great out.

We had talked about getting some sunset photos so immediately after the ceremony went straight into family photos then rushed up the hill to get some sunset shots. Since I had never shot at their venue before I was really hoping up the hill was going to be the best spot without ever seeing what it was like up top. When we got to the top of the hill I set up everything as fast as I could and took a test shot – it was awesome. Totally worth the climb to the top.

The reception was catered by Puckett’s and featured a spread of breakfast foods. My mouth is starting to water just thinking about it. It was great. There was a lot of dancing thanks to DJ Mikey Mike who knew how to get everyone on the floor. I always appreciate a good DJ otherwise I end up with a bunch of photos of people sitting and looking around. I had a lot fun shooting Beth and Bryan’s wedding and I hope you enjoy the preview below.
